Course aims

Support the participants in getting to know the main topics of organizational psychology.

Brief description of the course

The history and developmental directions in organizational psychology. Motivation, motives and needs. Money as motivator. Theories of motivation. Attribution of the causes of success. Work satisfaction. Work attitudes. Emotions at work. Factors predicting satisfaction. Work environment. Possibilities of measuring and increasing satisfaction. Indicators of dissatisfaction. Job insequrity. Client satisfaction. Fatigue. Work stress. Enhancing and inhibiting factors of coping with stress. Risk factors for job stress. The concept of burnout.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
- is able to analyze work-related situations from the psychological perspective;
- is able to apply one´s basic knowledge of organizational psychology to practice;
- is able to choose out adequate methods to rise motivation and satisfaction with job and coping with stress;
- understands motivation, job satisfaction, attitudes toward job and the mechanisms of developing job stress.
