Students who have not graduated from upper secondary schools where Estonian is the language of instruction, or who have graduated from schools where Estonian is only partly the language of instruction, are required to have Estonian language proficiency at C1 level.

MINOR FIELD OF STUDY MODULE: Language Editing and Reviewing

- has thorough knowledge of the structure of the Estonian language, show more...
the basic concepts related to Estonian, and the different levels of the Estonian language, and applies this knowledge when editing texts;
- uses different types of information sources and finds relevant subject-specific information, summarises different types of texts in Estonian and English, and presents the summary as a logically coherent and linguistically correct whole;
- edits different types of texts both linguistically and substantively, and notices the influence of a foreign language when editing translated texts;
- prepares and edits administrative texts and knows the basics of document management as well as the specific features of administrative and legal texts;
- has mastered the professional skills required for working as a language editor, including editing a longer complete text while taking into account the norms of the Estonian language, the target audience and function of the text, and cooperating with the author and translator in accordance with the ethical principles of editing; analyses and generalises the corrections they have made, applies theoretical knowledge in a work environment characteristic of the professions of referent and editor, and critically analyses and edits texts created or translated by artificial intelligence;
- performs subject-specific tasks responsibly, creatively and ethically, and copes with tensions arising in the work process and with changing work situations. Compulsory courses:
