Course aims

The review of the legal issues related to IT-development. Knowledge about the legal remedies (claims). Knowledge about the authors’ rights and personal data subjects’ rights.

Brief description of the course

Sources of the law. Civil remedies (claims). Sanctions for crimes and misdemeanors. Copyright and other types of intellectual property. Works protected by copyright. Author’s moral and property rights. Protection of computer programs. Copyright contracts. General principles of conclusion of a contract. Licenses. Protection of databases. Protection of personal data. E-contracts.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
- has ability to recognize and evaluate the legal risks related to the IT-development;
- has ability to evaluate the need for the legal assistance;
- has ability to take the author’s and data subject’s rights into account.
