Course aims

Understanding of the nature of mental phenomena and their difference from nonmental phenomena. Understanding of the principles of mental functioning.

Brief description of the course

Psyche. Paradigms and methods of psychology. Application of psychology. Sensory processes: vision, hearing, balance, body position in space, proprioception and sense of touch, smell and taste, other senses. Motility. Construction and operation of the nervous system. Mental processes: emotion, motivation, perception, memory, thought, action planning, language and speech.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
- understands the nature of mental phenomena and their differences from nonmental phenomena;
- knows the foundations and principles of mental functioning.
