Course aims

Give knowledge about study skills, factors that are related to these skills and about possibilities to support their development.

Brief description of the course

1. Overview of contemporary approaches to study skills
2. Constructs related to study skills: beliefs, emotions, motivation
3. Cognitive and metacognitive strategies
4. Study skills at different ages and groups of specialeducational needs
5. Supporting study skills
5. Supporting study skills

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
- has an overview about the most influential approaches to study skills;
- knows the most important factors that are related to study skills;
- knows cognitive and metacognitive study strategies and can use them properly;
- understands specific of study skills in different age and special educational needs groups;
- has an overview of programs of teaching study skills.
