Course aims
Provide overview of networkable devices, sensors and solutions for connecting them. Demonstrate different solutions and provide practical skills needed to connect consumer/hobbyist-level devices and write software necessary for their interoperability.
Brief description of the course
History of connecting devices, emerging standards. Candidates for standards, their differences and areas of use. Frequent problems and solutions when creating interconnected systems. Network devices and connection protocols. Adapters necessary for connecting devices. Solutions for creating network connections, configuring Linux and Android. Distinctions of writing network applications. Examples of using Java, Python and PHP. Transferring and processing data. Application reliability testing. Individual work with provided materials and building network solution.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- knows solutions and standards for connecting devices and is aware of possibilities and problems resulting from using and creating network applications;
- can use this knowledge to build real-life systems and test-devices.
