Course aims
In this course, students will receive an overview of how European foreign policy works, what it consists of, as well as key challenges and the role of Europe in the world.
Brief description of the course
Can you explain: the difference between EU foreign policy, European foreign policy, Common Foreign and Security Policy? The role of EU member states, European Commission, European Council, Council of the EU, European Parliament, and the EU External Action Service in the making of foreign policy? Key European foreign policy interests, such as the Neighbourhood and Enlargement Policy? The role of the EU Global Strategy and the difference between CFSP and CSDP?
The course will aim to provide answers to those questions and help situate the national foreign policies in the broader context of EU foreign policy.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- understands key concepts and elements of European Foreign and Security Policy.
