Course aims

To create possibilites for developing cognitive empathy in
teachers’ training and for applying respective skills in various
interaction situations

Brief description of the course

Cognitive empathy, its characteristics and development. Self-
perception and self-descriptions. Interaction partner’s perception
and cognition. Perception of other person’s perspective. Basic
values and empathy. Compassion and emotional sense of unity.
Conflict managment. Status in relationship. Vulnerability and
self-confidence. Empathic tolerance and plurality of opinions.
Status, empathy and intimacy in relationship
Psychological tests, video feedback and other related distribution
materials are used. Main study forms are role games and group
discussions.
Number of course participants: max 16 students, chosen on the
basis of interview.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
- has knowledge about the essence of empathy and its manifestations;
- has knowledge about the essence of empathy and its manifestations;
- has knowledge about the essence of empathy and its manifestations;
- has the ability to form a value-based empathetic attitude towards oneself and others;
- has the ability to find solutions in conflict situations.
