Course aims

Main of teacher training. Application of theoretical knowledge and skill in education sciences and biology at school to form ability of independent work in order to succeed as teacher of Biology at basic school. Development of capacities of analyzation and self-reflection.

Brief description of the course

Practical training takes place in the 2nd and 3rd stage of basic school. At that the student acquaints himself with the school management, follows and gives needed number of lessons as a teacher-trainee. The student does all duties of a subject teacher. He/she organizes at least one action on a subject topic. He/she fills in the trainee journal and lesson plans, fills in a journal of advancement, that will be presented to the chief educationist two weeks after the training. As a rule, the practical training is past in Tallinn.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
-- can plan learning and educational activities in cooperation with the supervisor, take into account the goals, competences and learning outcomes of national and school curricula;
-- applies knowledge, vocabulary and methods that are correct in the subject and correspond to the learner's characteristics and development, creates connections between different subjects and subject areas;
-in cooperation with supervisors, analyzes the learning and educational process and its activities according to the planned goals and basic documents, is able to plan further activities based on this, takes into account substantive and formal
-- follows the rules of courtesy and the school's operating practices, is guided by teacher ethics, cooperates with supervisors and other people related to the practice during practice.
