To introduce the basics of design and development process.
Brief description of the course
The students will conduct several sessions with instructors in Interaction Design, Software Development and Robotics labs by working on the group-based design and development projects.
Student will learn and try design-thinking methods, low and high-fidelity prototyping, and methods for fast evaluation of design artefacts.
During the course students will use following technological platforms and tools:
- Arduino Uno hardware controller with Arduino IDE;
- variety of sensors and actuators (including ultrasound sensor, passive infrared sensor, light sensor, temperature sensor, micro motor, stepper motor, led, pieszo speaker);
- Raspberry Pi minicomputer.
The student should use the labs between the contact hours with the instructors to continue their work on the projects independently.
Learning outcomes in the course
Has an overview about modern ways of design and development.
Understand the processes and tools, and uses these appropriately to reach the desired outcomes.
Is able to participate or supervise in similar design projects.
The students reflects their design and development process in a group portfolio and demonstrate their working prototypes in the last session in the lab.
