Brief description of the course
The subject belongs to the environmental as well as analytical chemistry and deal with the different methods of analysis of the environmental objects. Collection, conservation and analysis of natural, potable and waste waters; collection and analysis of air samples, dry and wet precipitates (rain, snow, dust). Soil sampling, conservation and analysis. Analysis of plant and animal objects. Analysis of toxic substances in human organism. Data-processing as a tool for generalization of the analytical results and presentation to specialists of environmental services. Training: practical skills of the analysis of environmental objects. Exercises concerning data-processing of analytical results.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- knows various environmental analytical problems;
-is able to collect samples of different types and in different physical states and prepare samples for chemical analysis;
- is able to choose the correct method of analysis for the sample to be analyzed;
- has improved the ability to use Excel and the ability to write raports.
