Course aims
Have a systematic overview of the main ecological processes and interactions. Able to teach ecology topics in the first four grades of general schools
Brief description of the course
Topics: organism structure and function in different habitats (terrestrial plants and animals, water-plants and animals); food chain and food net; photosynthesis and respiration; domestic animals and pets; human-nature interconnections
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- is able to identify the influence of abiotic and biotic environmental conditions on organism adaptations;
- is able to compose food nets for common Estonian communities;
- is able to explain essential general ecosystem processes (flow of matter and energy, photosynthesis, respiration);
- is able to compose plant and invertebrate collections;
- is able to recognize Estonia’s common vascular plant species.
