Course aims
Support learning of Estonian species and communities in nature. Able to organize fieldwork for biodiversity study by students of the general schools first six grades
Brief description of the course
Four days of fieldwork outside Tallinn for learning plant and animal species and communities in nature. Practical identifying species, using organism group keys. Identifying marks of the animal activities in nature, using special keys. Describing meadow plant community composition, and plant and invertebrate community of a waterbody.
Activities: Fieldwork during four days outside Tallinn; lectures; seminars
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- is able to identify species, using organism group keys;
- is able to identify, using keys, marks of animal species activities;
- is able to describe the meadow plant community composition;
- is able to organize the study of a waterbody biodiversity for students;
- values nature and species;
- is able to support the positive and thoughtful attitude concerning creatures.
