Course aims
Creating prerequisites for understanding the objectives, principles, and the study content of teaching national defence and choosing and applying purposeful teaching methods.
Brief description of the course
History of teaching national defence. Notion and aspects of didactics. Didactic system and its components. Underlying principles of didactics. Teaching approaches. Activating learning environment and how to shape it. Social and physical learning environment. Objectives and content of teaching national defence based on the national curriculum for secondary schools. Planning teaching, teacher's work schedule, syllabus. Recurring topics and integration with other subjects. Connections of national defence education with other fields of educational activities. Lesson, objectives of a lesson, stages, planning and preparing a lesson, lesson plan. Teaching materials. Feedback. Form of organising educational activities in national defence education. Teaching methods and techniques in teaching national defence.
Independent work: learners draw up a didactically purposeful lesson plan on a national defence topic at their own choice.

Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- knows the objective and study content of national defence education and the general principles of teaching the subjects;
