Course aims
Creating possibilities for students:
- to link teaching experiences and the acquired knowledge with school reality and to develop as a teacher of national defence;
- to get experiences and to develop oneself in spheres related to the teacher's profession, such as managing learning, supporting students' development, social skills and qualities;
- to plan one's professional development.
Brief description of the course
During the national defence education teaching practice the student has the possibility to experience the role of a teacher in a real school environment and to link one's acquired knowledge with the school reality. During the teaching practice the student prepares and carries through 10 national defence lessons leaning on the national curriculum for secondary schools, the syllabus and the acquired knowledge and skills related to the subject and didactics. As an independent work each student draws up lessons plans and necessary teaching materials for all the lessons.
The student includes all the teaching practice materials described in the requirements to independent work in a portfolio and submits it to the supervising teacher in one week following the end of the teaching practice.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- is able to take into account the national curriculum for secondary schools when planning the educational process;
- during teaching process creates links between different subjects and topic areas;
- carrying through educational activities uses knowledge, vocabulary, and methods suitable for the subject and the learner's peculiarities and age;
- analyses the educational process and his or her activity based on the planned objectives and underlying documentation, is able to plan his or her further activity accordingly, follows the requirements to the content and form when putting together the training practice portfolio;
- observes the rules of conduct and the school's practices, follows teacher ethics, during training practice cooperates with the supervisors and other people connected with the practice.
