Course aims

Form the readiness for teacher´s professional development;
Establish premises for understanding changed teacher´s position in school (relationships with parents, colleagues, management; student organisations, local governments and with other social partners);
Give an overview of the national curriculum and basic legislative acts of school regulations;
Give an overview of class teacher´s assignments;
Form the readiness for adequate behavior in crisis.

Brief description of the course

Teacher´s work professionalisation. Teacher´s professional development and desinging it. Teacher´s work with class. Teacher´s relation with parents. Teacher´s work ethics. Overview of legislative acts, including national curriculum. Schools´ goals for learning and education, their achievement through KÕK. Class teacher´s assignments and roles in modern school. First aid concept. Behavior in case of emergency. More frequent traumas, intoxications, emergency illnesses.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
- has a full image of teacher´s changed position in society and school, knows concepts of teacher´s professional development;
- understands national curriculum and school´s curriculum functions, factors affecting curriculum;
- knows basic legislative acts of school management and is able to fill school documentation;
- has an idea of school teacher´s work at school;
- knows how to react in emergency situation.
