Course aims

The goal of this course is:
To understand the pedagogical aspects of coaching physical activities, sports and physical educations;
To support planning, arranging and leading of sports training.

Brief description of the course

Presenting different aspects of sport: sport philosophy, sport history, sport education, sport didactics, sport psychology, sport sociology. The latest theories, scientific research and applications in practice.
Roles and Responsibilities of the Coach. Principles, Methods and Forms of Training. Planning the Training: training phases, cycles and sessions. Coaching Athletes as Individuals. The Coaches Code of Ethics.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
- has knowledge about principles and structure of training process;
- can create training plans;
- understands coaches role in athletes development;
- can evaluate self-development as a coach;
- has preparedness for professional development.
