Course aims
To provide basic knowledge of the structure of the human body, or anatomy, and the function, or physiology. To develop an understanding of the cooperation between the organs and organ systems of the human body. Introduce all organs in both Estonian and Latin.
Brief description of the course
Fundamentals of the structure of the human body - cells, tissues, organs, organ systems, their structural elements and basic functions. Basic principles of physiology. Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- can list the organs that make up all organ systems, recognize them by their Latin names, and name their functions;
- can describe the structure of each organ, specifying the tissues contained in it and the minor constituents of the organ in relation to its function;
- can highlight the possibilities of joint movement and systematises the muscles into groups according to the above;
- can describe the work of different organs by answering the question of how they function;
- can explain the functioning of the body as a whole, linking it to regulatory systems and cardiovascular and respiratory function.
