Course aims
Familiarisation with the teacher’s work peculiaritis in the group of children with special needs To create possibilities for practical implementation of the acquired theoretical knowledge in communication and conducting development among the children with special needs.
Brief description of the course
The student works in the group of children with special needs cooperating with the staff and support staff.
The child with special needs and the national curriculum for pre-school educational establishment.
Year plan and curriculum of a pre-school Action plan, week plan, daily routine and everyday activities for the goup of children with special needs. The organisation of work and learning activities depending on the children’s special need(s). Using games in the learning process of children with special needs. Consideration of the children’s individuality, children’s age- and ability-specific knowledge and skills. Evaluation methods of children’s development, individual curricula. Teamwork in a group and pre-school, cooperation with support specialists.

Upon completing the course the student:
After the course the student:
• Notices children’s special needs, takes them into consideration in her practical activity, analyzes child’s development
• Plans and carries out the learning process of the children with special needs together with the teacher, considering their special needs
• Plans and independently carries out daily activities of the group, instructs children’s games, chooses suitable games and toys for them considering their special needs
• Takes an active part in group’s teamwork, cooperates with support staff
• Communicates with the parents, imparts correct and adequate information
• Analyses and evaluates critically the level of her theoretical knowledge and practical skills to manage in the group of children with special needs
