Brief description of the course
Provides an overview of Estonia's position, geological development and structure. Estonian topography (relief) and the landforms that form it. Estonian climate and the factors that shape it. Inland waters and the Baltic Sea and their formation. Characteristics of Estonian soil, vegetation and landscapes. Everything that allows understanding the functioning of Estonian natural landscapes.
Independent work consists of: a geocomplex analysis of a region based on different types of data sources. Subject study requires participation in classroom work.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- has knowledge of aspects of Estonia's geographical position and their characteristics;
- understands the geocomplex functioning of Estonia and is able to analyze a smaller area in a holistic way from a natural geographical perspective;
- knows the most important natural objects and recognizes them on the map of Estonia.
