Course aims
Aim of which is to give an overview of terminology and tasks of environmental monitoring.
Brief description of the course
Definition of environmental monitoring, targets and organisation. Covered types of environmental monitoring one as follows: geophysical (meteorological, hydrological, radiation atc.), geochemical (air pollution, chemical content of forecipitation and inland waters, soils), biological (plant cover and fauna) and integrated monitoring. Existing monitoring systems in Estonia, their tasks, networks of observation stations and useage of data are discussed in more details.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- has knowledges about the environmental monitoring methods;
- knows Estonian Republic environmental monitoring systems;
- has overwiev of imoprtant in Estonia provable environmental monitoring.
