Course aims
To provide an overview of the chosen mathematical methods for description of physical fields and possessing of skills to solve the principal types of problems.
Brief description of the course
Basic methods of mathematical physics used in modeling and solving physics and engineering problems are discussed. Basic concepts of matrix algebra (eigenvalues/vectors, Hermitian matrix). Integral calculus (single, double and triple integral) with coordinate changes (polar, cylindrical, spherical coordinates) and applications of integral calculus (center of mass, moment of inertia). Integral and differential calculus in field theory. Ordinary differential equations of the first and second order, introduction to differential equations with partial derivatives. Representation of harmonic oscillations and forced oscillations in vector and complex form, solution of the corresponding differential equations.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- knows the time-space objects as well
- intensities in the theoretical understanding of mathematics in physics;-
- has ability to apply vector analysis dynamics and challenges of modern physics;
- has ability to independently complete themselves in mathematical physics
