Course aims
To enable the systematic acquisition of mechanics, and the acquisition of deepened knowledge of mechanics as the basis of physics;
To enable the development of the skill of solving mechanical problems;
To support the development of a physical world-view;
To support the development of the skill of explaining natural phenomena with the help of the laws of physics.
Brief description of the course
The kinematics of particle and that of an absolutely rigid body. The dynamics of linear motion: Newton's laws, force, mass, gravity. Movement influenced by several forces. Statics. Work and mechanical energy. The dynamics of rotational motion. Conservation laws. The mechanics of liquids and gases.
Solving the topical exercises and problem tasks.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- understands and knows the main principles of classical mechanics and the limits of their applicability;
- can apply the laws of mechanics in the analysis of different phenomena of the natural and artificial environment;
- can solve the problem exercises of mechanics;
- can choose appropriate methods for solving the mechanical problems.
