Course aims

To introduce the basic principles of animal physiological processes and their diversity.

Brief description of the course

The course covers: nervous and sensory systems, signal transduction, animal locomotion and its diversity, gas exchange, energy budget, feeding, thermoregulation, water balance and osmoregulation, endocrine and immune systems.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
- understands general animal physiological processes and is able to describe them.
