Course aims

To acquire knowledge and practical skills on the techniques of woodwork in order to be able to teach apply them creatively at the 2nd and 3rd levels of basic school. They also acquire the basic principles of technology and didactics of making craft objects necessary for teachers work through woodwork specifics and practical experience.

Brief description of the course

Machine assisted woodwork: production and characteristics. Machine assisted woodwork in the syllabus of craft and technology training in basic school. The technologies of machine assisted woodwork. Getting acquainted with the construction, operating and adjusting of the benches. Selecting, designing and making craft items. Health and safety requirements of machine assisted woodwork. Specific features of didactics of teaching machine assisted woodwork.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
- has ability to use different woodwork machines;
- knows the construction and work principles of woodwork machines;
- has knowledge about health and safety requirements of machine assisted woodwork.
