Course aims

The aim of the course is to develop the students’ ability to get oriented in the world of design, to provide deeper knowledge of design, as well as to contribute to their qualification of manual training teachers. A prerequisite to the participants of this course is the successful fulfillment of the course of Fundamentals of Design I.

Brief description of the course

The course is composed of auditory part and practical tasks. The scope of the material is 30 lecture hours and 15 hours of practice classes. The following themes will be covered in lectures: product semiotics, the form as means of reflecting the idea, ergonomics, analysis of target groups, possibilities of interdisciplinary cooperation in design solutions, brand values, etc.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
- has knowledge of design and skills to implement these in their specialty of manual training;
- has skills to implement theoretical knowledge in practice;
- has skills to discuss design issues;
- has skills to prepare personalized presentations and to present one's Learning outcomes long-term project.
