Course aims

The objective is to teach how to affect health behaviour in state level and individual level and for that purpose to introduce state health strategies.

Brief description of the course

WHO health concept. Health promotion management, planning and evaluation. Qualitative and quantitative research in health promotion and health education. Research: health behaviour of population, ESPAD. The introduction of Estonian health research data.
Needs assessment in building up of health promotion projects. The main principles of school health promotion/health education projects. Development of simple needs assessment fpr school projects. Health promoting schools. European Network of HP schools. The development, planning, management and implementation of school health policy.
World experience: what works best. Choosing the right concept. The concepts for affecting health behavior in individual level. The role of availability as a factor in changing health behaviour. Advertising strategies. Role of media, law and other regulations in affecting health behaviour.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
