Course aims

The objective is to give an overview about the implementation of effective health concepts in school level, in practice. To introduce the main principles and strategy of health education programmes, lessons and out-lesson school activities. To teach how to choose and develop health education modern teaching materials and programs.

Brief description of the course

Health education concepts, short world history. HE school programmes. HE teaching/training materials. The life skills concep and modifications. The concept of wholeness. The development of HE programmes in practice. The introduction of Estonian HE programmes and world experience. Teacher training programmes. Out-lesson HE/HP programmes general methodology. Peer programmes methodology.
HE programmes for parents, teachers and other (school)staff. The programme „Effective parent” and etc.
General methodology of HE (Concept in methodology). The creation and principles of choosing teaching materials for pupils. Pupils as authors of teaching materials: videos, dramas etc. Examples.
The teaching skills of health education teacher. Developmental stages of HE teacher. Democracy in health education practice: Lesson rules and evaluation processe in HE.
