Course aims
Exploration of basic concepts and terms of media theory, teaching to create advertising companies in mass-media, to estimate the foreground effects of mass media.
Brief description of the course
This course includes 12 lectures on 6 main topics. The lecture subjects are the main concepts and terms of mass communication theory, information, propaganda, gate-keeping and news-making. Practical part of this course includes study of mass media forms and creating advertising companies in mass media field. Sociological, psychological and anthropological methods are provided to research target audiences of media as well. Current methods of media monitoring are explored. Practical class is presented as a reworking of the complex advertisement program, basing on statistical and sociological data.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
Students know how to create advertising companies in mass-media, to estimate the foreground effects of mass media.
