Course aims

Form the readiness for teacher´s professional development;
Establish premises for understanding teacher´s position in school (relationships with parents, colleagues, management, local governments and with other social partners);
Give an overview of the national curriculum and basic legislative acts of school regulations;
Form the readiness for adequate behavior in crisis.

Brief description of the course

Teacher´s work professionalisation. Teacher´s professional development. Teacher´s work with class, parents and other social partners. Teacher´s work ethics. Overview of legislative acts, including national curriculum. Schools´ goals for learning and education, their achievement through KÕK. First aid concept. Behavior in case of emergency. More frequent traumas, intoxications, emergency illnesses.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
- has a full image of teacher´s changed position in society and school, knows concepts of teacher´s professional development;
- understands national curriculum and school´s curriculum functions, factors affecting curriculum;
- knows basic legislative acts of school management and is able to fill school documentation;
- knows how to react in emergency situation.
