Course aims
Form the student’s capabilities and skills in the field of music didactics of traditional and contemporary primary studies. Student should be able to choose and apply purposeful didactical methods forming the child’s general and musical competences and integrating music study in teaching other subjects. Create a consistent vision of teaching music in first years at primary school.
Brief description of the course
A short overview of the history of the didactics of musical education. Priorities, objectives and tasks of musical education. Musical competency and the teacher's role in developing these. Structure of musicality and the periods of the child's musical development. Pedagogical methods and teaching activities of musical education. The principles of choosing song repertoire. The methodology of teaching songs and development of voice. Listening to music and the possibilities of activating it. Musical movement and playing children's musical instruments as part of musical education. Children's musical creation. The principles of the music lesson.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- has knowledge about the principles of teaching musical education;
- has skills of implementing methods of musical education in integrated teaching activities and developing competences.
