Course aims
To provide an overview of internationally recognized information security management systems (ISMS). Establish the preconditions for acquiring knowledge and skills in establishing, monitoring and improving ISMS. Estimation of organizational needs, goals, security requirements, business processes and organizational size and structure necessary for planning and Implementing ISMS. Ability to estimate the workload for implementing ISMS, according to organisation`s needs and capacity.
Brief description of the course
Introduction to the course: Information security and its scope. Information security standards, methodologies and relationship with other IT management and governance frameworks (ITIL, COBIT). Critical success factors and basic principles of information security. Explaining necessary concepts and terminology.
Theoretical part: According to ISO27001 and ISKE methodology, the following topics will be covered: risk management, identification of IT assets, security classification and levels, Scope and need for effective security assessment. Information security policy, Business continuity plan. ISMS monitoring and improvement.
Practical part: practical tasks completed during seminars can be used for homework.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- is able to evaluate risks of organization’s information assets, identify security levels, implement necessary controls, compile information security policy and business continuity plan.

Iga üliõpilane osaleb grupitööna valmivas arvestustöös ja selle kaitsmisel seminaris ning sooritab eksami. Eksamile pääsemise eelduseks on arvestustöö esitamine ja kaitsmine. Kõik ühes rühmas osalenud üliõpilased saavad arvestustöö eest sama palju punkte.
