Course aims

The course aims to provide advanced-level Japanese language skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing including kanji characters and grammar.

Brief description of the course

During the course, students acquire grammatical expressions and practical usage on level C1.1. 359 kanji characters will be learned. The course familiarises the students with various communication situations such as formal and non-formal conversation in different situations. They read texts of popular science, essays, and journals, as well and practice spoken and written self-expressions relying on the learned skills.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
- is familiar with the vocabulary, grammatical expressions, and structures used in both personal and working situations and in newspapers, news, and descriptive texts;
- is able to distinguish between the different uses of the Japanese language (style, politeness, vocabulary, etc.) and to express oneself in a way that is appropriate to the particularities of the situation;
- understands and is able to formulate long and complex sentences on the basis of the grammar and vocabulary learned;
- is able to comprehend long and varied texts and conversations and to summarise what one has read and heard;
- is able to read, write, and use independently approximately 1360 kanji characters (including those studied at A1, A2, B1, and B2 levels).
