Course aims

To give an overview of the main events and developments of English-speaking countries in historical and cultural context.

Brief description of the course

The course gives an overview of most important historical events in connection with the developments in societies and cultures. Independent reading of lecture materials and literature.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
- has knowledge about most important historical events, people, places, dates, etc;
- is capable to analyse historical events in a broader cultural context.
