Course aims
1. to connect didactic and methodological knowledge with school reality,
2. to support students' ability to communicate with the school family in the role of (future) teacher,
3. to enable the student to gain experience and develop as a teacher of history and social studies in basic school.
Brief description of the course
Developing independent work skills for coping as a teacher of history and social studies in basic school.
During the internship, the student listens and observes and then gives the required number of specialty lessons at school, means that practices as an intern-teacher.
Developing analytical skills and developing self-reflection skills.
Application of subject methodology and principles of educational work in real school life.
Getting acquainted with the practical outputs and principles of teaching history and social studies.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- is able, in cooperation with the supervisor, to take into account the goals of education, state and school curricula when planning the learning and educational process, creates connections between different subjects and subject areas when teaching;
- uses subject-correct knowledge, vocabulary and methods appropriate to the specifics and age of the learner when conducting the learning and educational process;
- in co-operation with supervisors analyzes the learning and educational process and activities in accordance with the planned goals and basic documents, is able to plan further activities based on this, takes into account the substantive and formal requirements when compiling the practice development portfolio;
- follows the rules of courtesy and school practices, is guided by teacher ethics, co-operates with tutors and other people involved in the internship;
- is able to apply modern principles of didactics and methodology of history and social studies in the second to third level of basic school;
- is able to reflect on activities as a subject teacher.
