Course aims

To create the general idea of the basic rules of learning/teaching History (and Civics) universally and in Estonia and the understanding of history didactics and most important problems of understanding history.

Brief description of the course

Overview of the basic rules of learning/teaching History (and Civics) universally and in Estonia: most important problems. About the history of teaching/learning History in Estonia. The purposes and comprehension of teaching History, criteria of that choice. Overview of History textbooks – historic retrospect. The change in the contents and methodical structure of the textbooks in time. Tutorial literature in today’s Estonian schools. The tasks of history didactics. Understanding of history as the central category of history didactics. Making/formation of history didactics.
