To provide theoretical knowledge and practical experience in the field of recreational sports and physical activity and to acquire knowledge and skills in at least one outdoor health sports to be able to do self-guided or guided training on a basic level.
Brief description of the course
Role of health sports in society. Effects of physical activity. Physical activities and exercise for people with different health conditions and capabilities.
Basic principles of endurance training. Optimal training load, monitoring personal physical fitness. Exercise methods and tools for specific sports. Cycles, durance and intensity of training sessions. Role of recovery and rest. Training diary, training conditions, choice of locations.
Different outdoor activities: jogging, walking, nordic-walking, if possible, some other activities like cycling, disc-golf, orienteering etc. and a short description, basic technical aspects, suitability as health sports.
-review of one activity suitable as health sport in the outdoors (motives, requirements, arguments for choice etc)
-participation in one health sport event (look up in websites added to course program)
- keep the diary on workouts, analyse ones workouts over the period of the course

Learning outcomes in the course
By the end of the course the student knows basic theoretical principles and has practical skills in different health sports practiced in the outdoors.
Course will be passed on the bases of participation in contact hours (70%), participation in one healt sport event, presenting detailed review on one specific health sport, and self reflecting upon personal training diary.
