Course aims
Developing the knowledge needed to understand the organizational structure of sports, the management of sports organizations internationally and in Estonia. Acquisition of skills in analyzing work in a sports organization and project planning.
Brief description of the course
The course consists of four modules: organizational structure and regulation of sport; values and ethics in sport; organizing the work of a sports organization; sports organization resources, projects and marketing.
Independent work
As an independent work, students must read the compulsory literature in preparation for the test and acquire the study material for the exam. In addition, design, prepare and present a sports event project as a team work.
Learning outcomes in the course
By the end of the course participants will acquire:
- knowledge of regulative mechanism in sport and of how sport activities are organised,
- ability to understand the challenges associated with administration and leadership in sport,
- ability to understand value structures and ethics in sport,
- ability to analyse organisational and management activities in sports organisations and write projects.
Assessment methods
The overall grade of the course is as follows: test 20%, group work 30%, written exam 50% of the total grade.
Positive performance of group work is ensured by timely submission of work and compliance with the requirements set out in the guide. The test is multiple choice. The test is considered completed if at least 11 of the 20 questions have been correctly answered. The exam is written and is based on a knowledge of topics and terms.
