Course aims

The course aims to give a knowledge in all constituent skills in Chinese language level B2.1.

Brief description of the course

During the course will be learned to read and write 150 new Chinese characters (1350 in total) and their usage in sentences. Students will learn to produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects. There will be learned to have deep discussion about two faces of one issue, etc.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
- reads and writes 1,350 learned Chinese characters and uses them in texts on a range of topics;
- identifies the main viewpoints and important information presented in extended and more complex spoken Chinese;
- identifies the main points, the speaker's views and intentions, and the level of formality in Chinese conversations;
- reads Chinese texts on a range of topics, using a broad learned vocabulary to comprehend the texts and identify their main points and important information;
- produces clearly structured and detailed texts on topics related to their field of interest and on familiar abstract topics, using appropriate vocabulary and grammatical structures;
- selects relevant information and arguments from different Chinese-language sources, relates them to one another and uses them to produce a coherent written text.
