Course aims
Instruction in interpretation and in the use of different translation procedures for the translation of the texts, which belong to different types and genres, in the dependence on their designation.
Brief description of the course
Genres and the types of the texts: official, scientific and technical, popular science, juridical publicistic, artistic and so forth. Content, form, style, level (register). Function of text and its designation. Comparative analysis. Correlation of initial and transferring languages. Translation as process. Procedures of written translation. Translation is traditional and is innovative. Text analysis before the translation: grammatical, semantic, stylistic, pragmatic. Selection of translation strategy with the lingual mediation depending on audience and the degree of the importance of address translation. Translation training. Motivation of the solution of translation problems. Connectedness of text. On the adequacy of translation. Parallel texts. Translation practice.
