Course aims
The objective of practice is to create possibilities for the practical application of theoretical knowledge in work with children up to seven years of age; to support the development of associations between carrying out student educational activities and the acquired knowledge; to allow for the development of the student’s skills in supporting the development of the child, communication in child care institutions as a teacher and organiser of educational activities.
Brief description of the course
Student:
1) Compiles a schedule for the professional placement;
2) Observes one educational activity guided by a teacher and prepares an observational analysis;
3) Compiles 1 weekly schedule with their supervisor;
4) Plans, in co-operation with a teacher, and independently organises two educational activities;
5) Analyses the educational activities carried out and will prepare the analyses of two educational activities;
6) Performs a child’s development assessment and compiles its summary;
7) Analyses children’s game and compiles a summary of the analysis;
8) Co-operates with the group’s staff and involves the teacher’s assistant in the activities;
9) Participates in a group that manages children’s recreational activities; complete the assignments arising from the schedule; leads children’s games; organises games for children outdoors and the activity of children;
10) Compiles a self-analysis.
Throughout the entire professional placement, the student shall complete their professional placement portfolio that includes their activities during the professional placement. Session learning students also submit a video of an activity that they organised.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- can analyse the educational activity organised by a teacher;
- can design a playful and safe growth environment for a nursery group’s child in educational activities;
- can plan, implement, and analyse educational activities;
- can assess and analyse the development of children in the nursery group;
- can plan, assess, and reflect on their own work;
- can co-operate with the group’s staff and involves the teacher’s assistant in the activities.
