Course aims
To give an overview of the main events and developments of English-speaking countries in historical and cultural context.
Brief description of the course
The course gives an overview of most important historical events in connection with the developments in societies and cultures. Independent reading of lecture materials and literature.
Independent work
Independent reading of lecture materials and course literature. Home assignments for each week on the homepage of the subject. Written project about one important historical or cultural event.
Learning outcomes in the course
Knowledge about most important historical events, people, places, dates, etc. The students are capable to analyse historical events in a broader cultural context.
