Course aims
A main course for upper level of archaeology students about Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian archaeology in 450-1250 AD
Brief description of the course
A thorough overview of Baltic artefacts from Migration Age to the beginning of the Middle Ages will be provided. The main stress is on Estonian and Latvian archaeological material, but Lithuania will also be considered. An overview of researched objects and their interpretations, theoretical treatment and imaginations. Monuments and artefact types, society, economical and ideological processes behind them. Cultural connections in the contemporary Baltics and with areas around them. Cultural spheres and their changes.
