Course aims
The objective of the course is to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to design and implement movement and physical activity programs tailored to individuals with special needs. The course aims to promote understanding of the physical, cognitive, and emotional aspects of disabilities and to equip students with strategies to foster inclusivity, enhance motor skills, and support the holistic development of individuals with diverse abilities.
Brief description of the course
The course focuses on the principles of movement and physical activity for people with special needs, providing knowledge and practical skills for designing training and movement programs tailored to individuals with disabilities. It addresses various types of disabilities and their impact on motor skills, physical abilities, and daily functioning. Topics include adapted movement education methodologies, principles of inclusive training, the use of assistive devices, the development of movement habits, and conducting individual and group-based activities. The course integrates theoretical knowledge with practical experience to prepare specialists capable of supporting the holistic development and well-being of individuals with special needs. Additionally, it introduces opportunities for collaboration with organizations that support people with special needs.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- knows the basics of movement capacity and physical activity for people with special needs, as well as the impact of various types of disabilities on motor skills and daily functioning;
- understands the importance of movement and physical activity in promoting the health and well-being of individuals with special needs;
- is familiar with adapted movement education methodologies and principles of inclusive training;
- possesses knowledge about the use of assistive devices and their application in training and movement programs;
- can design and implement movement and physical activity programs tailored to the needs of individuals with special needs, both individually and in groups;
- can assess the motor and physical abilities of people with special needs and adapt training methods to their individual needs and capabilities;
- follows professional and ethical principles to ensure an inclusive and supportive environment;
- has the readiness to collaborate with organizations and professionals supporting people with special needs;
- understands their role in the holistic development of individuals with special needs and actively motivates and supports them in adopting an active lifestyle.
