Course aims
To provide students with knowledge and practical skills regarding the stages of motor and physical ability development in children and the principles of training methodology, taking into account age-specific and individual differences.
To develop analytical skills for assessing children's physical abilities and motor skill levels, emphasizing evidence-based approaches and holistic child development.
Brief description of the course
The course explores the stages of motor and physical ability development in children and the principles of training methodology tailored to their age-specific and individual needs. It covers evidence-based approaches to assessing and fostering children's motor skills and physical capacities while emphasizing holistic development. Students will engage in both theoretical and practical learning, including topics such as age-appropriate training methods, individual and group approaches to physical education, techniques for evaluating motor and physical abilities, and strategies for promoting health-enhancing physical activity and motivation in children.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- understands the fundamental principles of children's motor development and can consider age-specific and individual differences;
- understands the impact of playful and developmental activities on children's motor development and can purposefully utilize them;
- possesses comprehensive knowledge of various aspects of children's sports and the organization of training processes;
- understands the role of a youth coach as a teacher, mentor, and caregiver and knows how to apply it effectively;
- can analyze and assess children's motor skills and physical abilities using appropriate methods and tools;
- is capable of designing, implementing, and adapting training programs suitable for different age groups and developmental levels, based on evidence-based approaches;
- is prepared for continuous professional development and can apply acquired knowledge and skills in practice.
