Course aims

Establish conditions for the formation of an overall picture of Physical Education at school and its teaching methods for the students of different age;
Contribute to the acquisition of required skills for the teaching practice;
Contribute to the development of teacher competences and professional development.

Brief description of the course

Documents of regulating school physical education. Objectives, content, methods and forms of physical education for students of different ages. Physical education planning. Integration of physical education with other subjects. Physical education of students with special educational needs. Directing students' interest in learning. Learning outcomes and assessment of physical education. Physical education in Estonia and other countries.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
- has knowledge of school physical education, its organizational foundations and teaching to students of different ages;
- can plan the learning process of physical education;
- can analyze the activities of students and teachers in physical education classes;
- can explain to students the effects and benefits of physical exercise;
- can prevent danger situations and knows different methodological techniques in teaching.
