Course aims
To establish the conditions for linking the previous teaching experience and acquired knowledge with the school reality;
To enable the student to develop as a teacher of Physical Education;
To support the student’s ability of communicate with the school community as a teacher, and to contribute to the image of the teacher’s professional role;
To assist the student in planning his professional development.
Brief description of the course
The student shall observe and analyze the classes of Physical Education conducted by subject teachers and fellow- students, perform the duties of a teacher of Physical Education and those of a class teacher, analyze the activities of his own. The student shall supervise the extracurricular sport activities of young learners; he shall perform at least one extracurricular sport activity.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- is able to see the links between the previously acquired knowledge, the experiences through the teaching practice and the school reality;
- has the skills to perform the classes of Physical Education at school both indoors and outdoors; understands the importance of the professional knowledge, related skills and values in the learner development, is aware of the subject content and uses skillfully the teaching methodology;
- is capable of designing and conducting an extracurricular sport activity;
- is able to behave and rationalize the experience from school from the point of view of a prospective teacher, understands the teacher’s different work responsibilities (the extracurricular activities included);
- understands that primary learning is part of life-long learning and is aware of his strengths and weaknesses.
