Course aims

To obtain basic methods of teaching Russian as a foreign language, historical overview of Russian language teaching materials. To present methods of teaching foreign language and academic programmes for teaching foreign language.

Brief description of the course

Basic comprehension and history of teaching foreign language. Impact of Russian language status on teaching and studying motivation. Historical overview of studying material of Russian language. Methods of teaching foreign language (direct, mediatorial, audiovisual, audiolingual, communicative etc.) and their using in practice. Review of main studying purposes. Structure of lessons, planing.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
- knows principle concepts and basic methods of teaching a foreign language;
- knows Europe language portfolio terms;
- is able to use methodical principles and state educational program while making teaching materials;
- is able to improve pupils’ pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar skills.
