Course aims

To give an insight into party systems and political parties from political science's perspective and introduce the main present systems in Western Europe as well as Eastern and Central Europe.

Brief description of the course

Introduction; main terms, for example parties, ideologies etc; the structure of the society and political parties in Europe and Estonia. The focal point is preparation for the seminars.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
- acquires knowledge about the main theories and terms concerning parties and party systems;
- acquires capability to read and understand relevant texts and apply knowledge into practice.
