Course aims

Give knowledge about contemporary theoretical approaches and widely used methods in studying development and learning and skills for orienting in respective literature.

Only social science doctoral student can attend the course.

Brief description of the course

Development and learning. Influential theoretical approaches (Vygotsky, Siegler, Nelson et al.). Study methods (experiments, microgenetic analysis etc.). Students read papers and discuss about the topics in seminars.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
- has an overview about influential theoretical approaches and study methods in developmental and educational psychology;
- is able to discuss about problems of development and learning;
- has acquired skills in critical thinking about theories of psychology and presenting the results of these analyses;
- is able to participate in scientific discussions .
